This is the page to read before your first capsule. Several ingredients here have real, documented interactions with common prescription medicines.
The most common side effect is stomach upset in the first week, usually caused by taking the capsule on an empty stomach. Taking it with food fixes it for most people.
The more important issue is interactions. Berberine affects a long list of medicines through liver enzymes, fucoidan has blood-thinning activity, and four separate ingredients lower blood sugar. If you take anything prescribed, ask a pharmacist before you start.
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before your first capsule if you take any of the following: diabetes medicine (metformin, a sulfonylurea, insulin), blood pressure medicine, a statin, a blood thinner (warfarin, clopidogrel, apixaban, rivaroxaban, daily aspirin), cyclosporine or another immunosuppressant, an antidepressant, levothyroxine, tamoxifen or hormone therapy, or methotrexate. Also check first if you are pregnant, nursing, have a thyroid condition, have a hormone-sensitive condition, or have surgery or dental work scheduled within two weeks.

berberine — the longest list
Berberine inhibits CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9 and P-glycoprotein. In plain terms, it can slow down how your body clears a wide range of medicines, raising their levels in your blood. Statins, cyclosporine, some blood thinners and some antidepressants are all on that list. It also lowers blood sugar, so it adds to diabetes medicine. It should not be taken in pregnancy or while nursing, and never given to newborns.
fucoidan — blood thinning
Its structure resembles heparin and it has anticoagulant and antiplatelet activity in laboratory and animal studies. Combining it with warfarin, clopidogrel, apixaban, rivaroxaban or daily aspirin needs medical advice. Stop before surgery.
oleuropein, corosolic acid and Ceylon cinnamon — blood sugar stacking
Each lowers blood sugar mildly. Together with berberine, that is four ingredients acting on the same system in one capsule. In someone already on diabetes medicine, that stacking is the most realistic safety concern in this formula. Warning signs of low blood sugar are shakiness, sweating, confusion and a racing heart.
saffron — serotonin and blood pressure
May add to the effect of SSRIs and other serotonergic antidepressants. May lower blood pressure slightly and may have a mild antiplatelet effect. Should be avoided in pregnancy.
kudzu flower — hormone-sensitive conditions
Contains isoflavones acting as weak plant oestrogens. Check with a doctor if you have a hormone-sensitive condition, take tamoxifen or hormone therapy, or take methotrexate.
fucoxanthin and fucoidan — iodine and thyroid
Seaweed-derived ingredients can carry iodine, and excess iodine can disturb thyroid function. Relevant if you have a thyroid condition or take levothyroxine — berberine can also affect levothyroxine absorption.
xylitol — a warning about dogs
Xylitol is severely toxic to dogs even in small amounts, causing dangerous drops in blood sugar and liver failure. Store the bottle where a pet cannot reach it and contact a vet immediately if a dog swallows any.
Reported side effects and what to do
Stomach cramping or nausea
Most common in week one. Almost always fixed by taking the capsule with a proper meal rather than on an empty stomach.
Loose stools or diarrhoea
A known berberine effect. If it does not settle within a week of taking it with food, stop and speak to a pharmacist.
Headache
Occasionally reported early on. Check your hydration and whether you changed anything else at the same time.
Feeling shaky, sweaty or confused
Possible signs of low blood sugar, particularly if you take diabetes medicine. Stop and speak to your prescriber.
Unusual bruising or bleeding
Stop and get medical advice. Fucoidan has blood-thinning activity and this needs checking, especially alongside a blood thinner.
Nothing at all
The most common outcome by a distance. Not a side effect, but worth stating plainly as the realistic expectation.

- Persistent stomach pain or diarrhoea lasting more than a week
- Unusual bruising, nosebleeds or bleeding that is slow to stop
- Shakiness, sweating, confusion or a racing heart — possible low blood sugar
- Dizziness or lightheadedness on standing — possible low blood pressure
- Yellowing of the skin or eyes, or dark urine — stop immediately and seek medical attention
- Any rash, swelling or difficulty breathing — stop immediately and seek medical attention
Stop at least two weeks before any scheduled surgery or dental extraction, and tell the team what you have been taking. Stop if you become pregnant.
